In this solo exhibition, Miaja Gallery presents Iranian artist, Ali Esmaeilipour and his newest mixed-media collection, Immigrant. Since migrating to Singapore from his native Iran in 1999, Ali has spent the past 15 years carefully collecting various scraps of newspapers and magazines, and today these printed mementos have become the backbone of his current collage works.

Creating snapshots of a life lived has remained a central theme in Ali’s paintings, the story of which unfold to reveal a diary of his journey over the years, and to the discerning eye, the artist’s self-portrait emerges.

“Being an artist means to re-create the world as you see it, so that people can understand the meaning of your life” – Ali Esmaeilipour
